The Pi-oneers are also helping the Sakhikamva Foundation of South Africa create a robotics program. The team sent three Arduinos, enabling them to begin a robotics club. Currently, the Pi-oneers are partnering with FTC Team 207 to create a curriculum with Arduinos for the foundation. A program is being developed to establish a FIRST team next year. This year, STEM Night Out was created to support the Sakhikamva Foundation; proceeds were donated to fund their robotics program. This event taught children how to create their own solar night light by using skills such as soldering, wiring a circuit board, the principles of solar power, teamwork and the importance of STEAM. After creating a take-home solar night light, participants saw a robot demonstration and an astronomy presentation in a Star Lab.
