Shooter

The Shooter Sub-Team was a division of the Mechanical sub-division. In 2012, the shooter was designed to shoot basketballs into three hoops.The design consisted of two wheels on one axle that was motorized and a third wheel that was free spinning. The team gathered data by watching and recording a teacher shooting a basketball into a hoop. This was used to determine the best angle to place the shooter on the robot. After careful calculations, an angle of 60 degrees was decided. This was not the only obstacle. The team also had to find a way to feed the basketball from the elevator to the shooter. The Elevator Sub-Team worked closely with the Shooter Sub-Team to find a solution.  A device, similar to a spoon, was created. The ball traveled up the elevator and fell into the feeder, which pivoted up and was pushed into the shooter and then shot into the baskets.
